Background to the resource

The Outreach Information Resource has been developed by CCLG to support professionals who are supporting a child with cancer in the community. The resource will also be useful for family members and friends who are supporting a child with cancer.

In 2012-14, an education pack was developed in Scotland by three nurse educators funded by CLIC Sargent (now Young Lives vs Cancer) to provide simple, bite-size information for professionals and families supporting a child with cancer in the community who were not specialist trained cancer professionals.

We would like to thank Carole Campbell (Aberdeen), Ali Hall (Glasgow) and Angela Russel (Edinburgh) for their tireless efforts in developing the original pack.

Following positive feedback, it was decided to adapt the pack into a UK-wide resource, which was funded by CLIC Sargent. We would like to thank Carole Campbell (London GOSH) and Bernie McShane (Northern Ireland) for their superb work in providing this UK resource. The resulting resource was hosted on the CCLG website as the most appropriate place to reach healthcare professionals. CCLG subsequently took on responsibility for updating the resource.
