Cancer is a key priority, locally, nationally and internationally and caring for children and young people with cancer requires a range of specific knowledge, skills and experience to deliver complex care both within the hospital or community environment.
During 2023 CCLG and TYAC multi-professional subject matter experts have reviewed, redesigned and updated our e-learning course for health and social care professionals caring for children and young people. We are launching the first of nine planned units in December 2023 with remaining units coming online up to February 2025.
The updated course builds on the original modules which were developed and delivered through the Paediatric Oncology Nurses Forum (PONF), RCN (Nurse Educators) and Warwick University, formerly known as cancernursing.org. These have been previously hosted by Coventry University and Edinburgh Napier University before transferring to CCLG in 2014. The previous course had 10196 members from 118 countries across the globe with free access 24/7. We continue to be committed to free open access to support the UK, RoI and global health and social care community.
We hope you find this useful supplementary education in your daily work as a professional in the cancer care team.
The nine planned units are held on our Children, Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Learning Hub (a Moodle eLearning platform) and which also hosts links to other resources and more content to come:
