Childhood cancer: Health of survivors (GP factsheet)
Published: Feb 2023
Next review: Feb 2026
Developed in partnership with GPs, this factsheet gives an overview of the key considerations when caring for an adult survivor of childhood cancer.
Improvements in care since the 1970s mean that more children are now surviving their cancer diagnosis. For those diagnosed in 2012 – 2016, the five year survival rate in the UK is 84%. There are over 40,000 childhood cancer survivors living in the UK, and this number is set to rise.
