Team Codex come together for CCLG

A group of colleagues at a London-based recruitment agency are lacing up their running shoes this weekend to raise vital funds for Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG).

Eight employees from Codex Recruitment are tackling the Hampton Court Palace Half Marathon and have chosen to run for CCLG after one of the team explained the devastating impact of childhood cancer and the importance of fundraising for charities working to improve the lives of young patients and their families.

The brother of a close friend of Rahul Patel passed away from leukaemia as a child, motivating the recruitment consultant to put forward CCLG to raise funds for.

He said:

There are so many great charities out there, but CCLG feels extra-special to me because everything my friend’s family have been through.

I’ve seen just one example of thousands of what a family goes through, and to stop that happening, we have to help.

CCLG is of such great value for all these families, so being able to fundraise and raise awareness of them and do our bit is really pleasing and something we really want to do.

Everyone just got fully behind fundraising for CCLG, which says a lot about how supportive everyone is here.

Di Clifford, Executive Assistant to the MD at Codex, said:

Anything that is close to the heart of a member of our team, is close to ours, too.

After researching all the amazing work CCLG does, we were straight on board to get stuck in and play our part as well.

Knowing how CCLG helps families through its research, it’s a no-brainer [to fundraise for]. It’s a huge motivator, and if we can help even just a little bit, that would be amazing.

The Codex team regularly raise money for good causes, which Di said exemplifies what a close-knit, charitable and inclusive organisation the company is.

She said: “The great thing about Codex is that we’re always trying to see if we can help a cause and raise awareness.

“Everyone really does care, and everybody chips in and is eager to do so. It says a lot about the people who work at Codex.”

The pair said that though they are both slightly nervous about the run, the reason why they are doing it and the ‘all in it together’ team mentality will spur them on.

Rahul said: “I don’t really enjoy running but the purpose of the challenge that I care about.

“But it will be good fun running around with the rest of the Codex team.

Di added: “It’ll be tough, but we’ll all be in it together.

“The great thing about Codex is that whenever we do something like this, we remember why we’re doing it and always chip in.”

Hannah Ortega, Fundraising Coordinator Community & Corporates at CCLG, said:

We’d like to say a big thank you to the team at Codex for choosing to support CCLG with their fundraising and helping us to change the future for children with cancer.
