There is a nationally recognised gap in adequate education provision provided by experts working in the field. Recruitment and retention of the junior workforce remain a priority if we are to maintain good standards of care for the future. We know that without additional support the junior workforce can experience work related distress and isolation leading to moving to a less challenging field of practice. With the right support our junior nurses can build a lasting a highly rewarding career.
This interactive study day has been developed to support ongoing learning and early career development within this specialist field. The programme will explore key clinical themes relevant to current practice, including:
- Palliative Care in Paediatric Oncology and Haematology
- Immunotherapy: principles, treatments, and nursing considerations
- Aftercare and long-term follow-up for children and young people
The education day aims to enhance clinical knowledge, promote reflective practice, and support the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, and compassionate care to children and their families. In addition, the day will provide valuable opportunities for networking and professional engagement with Band 5 peers from Paediatric Oncology and Haematology services across the UK, supporting shared learning and collaboration.
