Be a part of CCLG's Snowdon Sunrise Challenge!
CCLG's Snowdon Sunrise Challenge takes place on Sunday 28th June 2026.
CCLG walkers will gather in the early hours at the foot of Wales' highest mountain and embark on a guided night walk to the summit, timed perfectly to arrive as the sun rises over Snowdonia National Park.
The adventure begins at Snowdon Mountain Railway Station in Llanberis between 01:00 and 03:30 AM (depending on the time of year). You'll be briefed by our qualified Mountain Leaders before setting off on the Llanberis Path, the most popular and well-maintained route to the summit. Walking by head torch through the darkness, you'll experience the mountain in a way few people ever do, quiet, atmospheric, and utterly unique.
As you climb, your guides will set a steady pace, ensuring everyone stays together and supported. You'll take rest breaks, share the experience with fellow participants, and build camaraderie as you work toward a common goal. Then, as you approach the summit plateau, the first light of dawn begins to break. By the time you reach the top at 1,085 metres, the sun is rising over the peaks and valleys of Snowdonia. It is a truly unforgettable moment.
After celebrating together at the summit (and capturing plenty of photos), you'll descend as a group, finishing back in Llanberis mid-morning. The total experience takes approximately 7 hours, and no prior mountain experience is required, just a reasonable level of fitness and determination.
This event is delivered by our partners at Sky Blue Adventures, specialists in charity challenge events. All participants are supported by qualified Mountain Leaders, covered by full public liability insurance, and benefit from comprehensive risk assessments and safety protocols.
Join us for this incredible challenge and make a real difference for children and young people with cancer.
