Asparaginase
Published: Jul 2025
Next review: Jul 2028
Asparaginase is an enzyme that causes leukaemia cells to die by depriving them of essential nutrients.
This factsheet provides information on the use of asparaginase in children and young people with cancer. Please read this factsheet carefully alongside any patient information provided by the manufacturer. Keep it somewhere safe so you can read it again.
For most medicines, information is provided by the manufacturer in the medicine package. However, this does not always tell you everything you need to know about the use of this medicine in children and young people. We have written this factsheet to give you some extra information.
