Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG) is proud to have become a partner of the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI).
The NCRI is a UK-wide partnership between research funders working together to maximise the value and benefits of cancer research for patients and the public.
NCRI partners are organisations that fund cancer research in the UK, working together to coordinate their research with the aim of avoiding unnecessary duplication and maximising the impact of research for cancer patients and the public.
Bringing together the brightest scientific and medical minds
These cancer charities fund research into many types of cancers, with CCLG becoming only the second children’s cancer charity to join this group, which brings together the brightest scientific and medical minds to improve cancer research as a whole.
As a partner of the NCRI, CCLG will work with the other partner organisations to increase the impact of its research by sharing data, so that it funds research that hasn’t been done before.
Sarah Evans, CCLG Research Manager, said:
We want to help the NCRI to guide cancer research priorities with our expert knowledge of the challenges faced by children with cancer.
This partnership means that CCLG can share our ideas to fund research where it has the most impact and make children’s cancer research a priority.
We also look forward to the opportunity to work with other key cancer charities so that we can achieve even more together.
Whilst children’s cancers are different to adult cancers, they are still cancers and so there is a lot that we can learn from other cancer charities.
As the leading experts in childhood cancer in the UK, we will be a fierce advocate for childhood cancer research and for the children whose voices need to be heard.
At CCLG, we truly believe that research is the answer.
