CCLG celebrates research this Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

  • Published:

Today (1 September) marks the beginning of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month (CCAM). This year, in addition to raising awareness of childhood cancer and its signs and symptoms, CCLG is shining a light on research and how, without it, progress in its treatment and care would not be possible.

Throughout the month, we’ll be sharing stories of families affected by childhood cancer and why research is so important to them, showcasing pioneering researchers and the innovative projects they’re working on to help change children’s cancer, and highlighting all the ‘behind-the-scenes’ work that goes on to help facilitate them.

Dr Sarah Evans, CCLG’s Head of Research, said:

This Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we’re delighted to be able to shine a light on research and the pivotal role it plays in enhancing treatment and care.

To date, we've funded over 130 researchers across the UK and Ireland and our researchers are some of the leading experts in Europe. We look forward to celebrating some of those researchers and their teams who are helping to change the future for children and young people with cancer through dedication and innovation.

We also look forward to sharing some exciting news about CCLG’s future research direction, as we prepare to launch our bold and ambitious new research strategy for children’s and young people’s cancer.

Our research is only possible thanks to the dedication and generosity our amazing supporters and fundraisers.
