UK employees at World Duty Free (WDF), which is part of leading global travel retailer Dufry, have raised an incredible £100,000 for Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG) in just 18 months.
WDF became a corporate partner of CCLG in February 2022, and since then have raised the mammoth total through a huge range of fundraising events and activities including a skydive, tester sales, step challenges and a team zip wire in Wales.
Having set an initial target of £120,000 across three years, it is, according to Geoff Hall, HR Director for Dufry UK, “testament to how much CCLG means to us all at WDF” that they have almost surpassed this figure by the halfway point of the partnership.
He said:
We’re so proud of our staff and what they have achieved and raised so far. It has been a challenging year for many financially, but our teams are so dedicated to the cause they continue to push further in their fundraising efforts.
Cancer and childhood cancer impacts so many of our teams and their families, so many feel an emotional connection with the charity and are eager to support wherever they can.
It's amazing to see our fundraising help fund pioneering research that will help us to one day reach our combined goal of a world where every child with cancer survives and lives long, happy and healthy lives.
Our staff have all been incredibly excited to get behind CCLG to raise much-needed funds and awareness. We’ve got lots planned for our next year of fundraising and are excited to continue to support CCLG.
Geoff said that WDF colleagues hope to quickly begin adding to their fundraising total and that September, which is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, will be a busy month for its teams, with lots planned from quizzes, raffles and games along with plenty of in-store activity.
He added: “Children’s Cancer Awareness Month is a great opportunity to promote the wonderful work of CCLG with our many customers and we have lots of activity planned. We’re eager to raise even more money and awareness for CCLG in store.”
Lizzie Goates, Fundraising Manager Community & Corporates at CCLG, said:
