Welsh Three Peaks

The Welsh Three Peaks Challenge is an exhilarating event that takes participants through three of the highest and most iconic peaks in Wales: Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), Cadair Idris, and Pen y Fan. The challenge is to complete all 3 mountains within 24 hours.

The total distance covered is 17.5 miles with a total ascent of 2864 meters, making it one of the toughest hiking challenges in Wales.

Snowdon, the highest peak in Wales, offers stunning panoramic views, while Cadair Idris is known for its rugged beauty and mythological significance. Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales, is located in the picturesque Brecon Beacons.

What you need to bring

  • Suitable walking boots (with ankle support)
  • Appropriate clothing for the walk
  • Waterproof jacket and trousers
  • Spare warm layer
  • Hat and Gloves
  • Head torch and spare batteries (can be hired from us for £4 please remember to add this to your basket before paying)
  • Food for the duration of the challenge
  • Snacks and water (minimum 1.5 litre’s) for the walk (Top ups will be available)
  • Change of clothes for the minibus
  • Comforts for the minibus
  • Camera to capture the adventure (optional)
  • Walking poles (optional)

Meeting Time: 15:00pm (3pm)

Location: Collection on Friday 24th October from Coventry, CV2 2SZ (Junction 2 of the M6) we will be travelling to Llanberis along the M6 from junction 2 towards the M56 and A5. If you would like to arrange an alternative collection point along the route please contact us prior to booking. We will stay in Llanberis overnight ready to start our challenge early Saturday morning.

Walk details

The Welsh Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing three of the highest and most iconic peaks in Wales within 24 hours. This is an iconic challenge and regarded as one of Wales’ toughest mountain events.

Please Note: The challenge will take place in most weather but the leader will reserve final judgement on the day (in most cases) and maintains the right to abandon any walk if they feel the safety of themselves or any participant is at risk.
